  • HBCU Night D-9 Halftime Read Along celebrates the traditions and contributions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Attendees participate in a reading experience that highlights significant literature reflecting the HBCU community's history. This event promotes literacy, unity, and pride, encouraging appreciation of HBCUs' cultural legacy. Through shared stories, it fosters learning and connection, enhancing the celebration.

    Join us for HBCU NIGHT D-9 HALFTIME READ ALONG, an engaging event celebrating the vibrant traditions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and the esteemed Divine Nine (D-9) fraternities and sororities. Founded by author and GramFam Andres Martin, this unique gathering invites participants to explore the rich culture, history, and significance of HBCUs and D-9 organizations. Through compelling storytelling and shared experiences, Martin will illuminate his deep appreciation for these institutions and their impact on the community.     Theme:     Morning Swing/Blues Brunch
    Menu Highlight: Beignet & Coffee Bar, Gulf Shrimp & Grits, Crab Cake Benedict

    Live Swing/Blues Band – A soulful swing and blues performance provides the backdrop for brunch as attendees mingle.

    Lunch (12:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
    Theme:     Midday Beats & Eats
    Menu Highlight: Charbroiled Oysters, Seafood Gumbo, Po'boy Sandwiches

    12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
    DJ Set (Smooth Jazz/Funk) – Smooth jazz and funk vibes will accompany lunch service.

    • 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM
      Vendor Presentation Slot – Another vendor will showcase their products/services during this time.

    • 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
      Open Vendor Activities – Guests can explore vendor booths and food trucks while the DJ plays.

    • 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
      DJ Set (Uplifting Vibes) – Uplifting tunes as the afternoon progresses, perfect for mingling.

    Afternoon to Evening (4:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
    Theme:     Evening Jams & Feasts
    Menu Highlight: Surf & Turf Grilling Station, Jambalaya Bar, Grilled Fish

      Vendor Presentation Slot

    • 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM
      Musical Chairs Competition (50/50 Raffle) – Engage the crowd with a fun musical chairs competition. Tickets are $10, with 50% of the proceeds going to the winner and 50% toward a scholarship.

    • 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
      Open Vendor Time – An opportunity for guests to grab dinner, visit vendor booths, and relax before the evening entertainment begins.

    • 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
      GramFam Got Talent & DJ Competition – The evening heats up with the talent show and a DJ battle. DJs will spin between talent acts, and the winners of both the DJ competition and the talent show will be announced at the end of the event.

    • 9:00 PM - 9:30 PM
      Winner Announcements – The winners of GramFam Got Talent and the DJ competition will receive their prizes.

    Late Night (9:30 PM - 11:30 PM)
    Theme:     Late-Night Lounge & Vibes
    Location: Young Alumni Cigar & Wine Bar (Separate Tent Area)

    • 9:30 PM - 11:30 PM
      Cigar & Wine Bar Opens – The exclusive cigar and wine bar opens in its own tent, offering a relaxing atmosphere for those looking to unwind. Guests can enjoy premium cigars and a curated selection of wines. Soft background music will set the mood for this upscale experience.

    Morning (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
    Theme: VIP Grill & Chill Brunch
